I did some post processing in Photoshop CS5 to make the gown appear to be a different color.

Here’s how: Duplicate the background layer, on that layer use the tool of your choice to make a selection of the statue; With the statue still selected (you see the marching ants) create a saturation adjustment layer, a mask will automatically be created, too; boost the saturation to bring out the very little yellow that was present in the shot; using a soft brush with the foreground color set to black, paint over her face and feet to remove the color from them and return them to the color of the stone.

BTW, it looks like a splash of yellow on her right arm but that is not from the adjustment layer it was just a difference due to weathering, I guess.

  1. I’m really glad you explained this because I was slapping myself for missing this one. I love what you did with it. It is very subtle and realistic looking and like I said, I thought it was really this color and I just missed it. And thank you for sharing the technique.

  2. Thanks so much for sharing your editing tips. The colors add a lot to the photo. I seem to have missed a lot on this outing and the time Scott and I ventured there. This is the great part of being part of this club!!!!
